Review : "101 Weddings"
Director Shafi's fun entertainment "101 Weddings" turns out to be an average fare, while on entertainment aspect it may play spoilsport with your taste. Script stands out the main factor which begins out on a interesting way and later on gets out of its track. On a note, Malayalam movie "101 Weddings" seems to be an average one and we leave it on you, at last its your decision....
Rituals begins with the pre-marital counselling session at a cottage and it revolve around the life of three characters Krishnankutty (Kunchako Boban), Jyothishkumar (Jayasurya) and Anthappan (Biju Menon) who shares out their emotions during a mass wedding ceremony. Krishnankutty aka Krish, son of a strict
gandhian Munshi Shankara Pillai (Vijaya Raghavan), leads the life of his own, infact at times he use to deceived his father to make some quick bucks. On the other side, we have Anthappan (Biju Menon), a rowdy and use to screw Krishnankutty for his gandhian father's protest against his father Lawrence (Kochupreman), who runs a liquor shop and liquor baron Vettanchira Bhasi (Sunil Sukhadha).
Here we came across an another character Jyothish Kumar, a classical dance teacher, behave in a feminine way and lands up in a drama to save Krishnankutty from being getting married to Abhirami (Samvrutha Sunil), who happens to be the daughter of Bhasi and helps Shankara Pillai by giving vital information about her father's liquor business. In this way, Shankara Pillai convinced Abhirami to get married to his son in a mass wedding ceremony proposed to be held at Kasturba Seva Gramam, which bring on all the characters to this ceremony without knowing each others motive, forms the rest of the part of this film.
Shafi worked out well in his own screenplay, but this time Kalavoor Ravikumar's script doesn't gave too much of choice to Shafi to try his hands on for more improvement. Jayasurya stands out good from the rest and gave the ample strength to his character. Kunchako Boban and Samvrutha Sunil gave their best, while Biju Menon and Bhama has not get enough moments on the screen. Vijaya Raghavan, Salim Kumar, Sunil Sukhadha, Suraaj Venjharamoodu, Kochupreman and others made their parts pretty comfortably.
Allagappan's visual gave a sooth touch to the experience of viewing with the editing works of V.Saajan. Songs are nice with the hands of Deepak Dev and Rafeeq Ahamed. Art Direction from Joseph Nellickal jells pretty well with the look of this "101 Weddings". For the banner of Film Folks, Rafi, Bava Hasainar and Shaleer are the producers of this malayalam movie "101 Weddings".
